Tasting notes
This wine exhibits classic Syrah characteristics with a bouquet of black currant and a hint of anise. The palate shows pepper, cinnamon and truffle, with a finish kissed by tannins and clove. Aged in 50% new and 50% neutral, French and American oak. Best with lamb or pork. Enjoy now and for the next several years.

This Santa Clara Valley Syrah hails mostly from the Dos Niñas Vineyard, which was planted in 1999 with a total of 7.5 acres. Vertical Shoot Position (VSP) Trellis system. Drip Irrigated. Harvested at 3.2 tons per acre.
Grapes are hand harvested. 80% whole berry, 20% crushed. Fermented in 1.5 ton bins with Saccharomyces and Lachancea thermotolerans yeast. Punched down three times a day. Seven day fermentation, seven day total maceration. Highest fermentation temp @ 87 degrees Fahrenheit. Pressed at -1.0 brix.
